Family Link
- Windows, Mac:
- Android: Family Link
YouTube | WhitelistVideo |
|---|---|---|

Can my child remove WhitelistVideo? Here's the answer, and why an app on its own isn't enough. Stick around for a better, more secure way to set it up.
Removal-proof means WhitelistVideo is paired with your device's own parental controls, so only your password or account can remove it.
Parents do it because a control a child can switch off protects nobody.
You need a Standard account on computers, Screen Time on iPhone and iPad, and Family Link on Android.
Paired with Family Safety or Screen Time, a computer needs the administrator to remove it. iPhone and iPad need your Apple Account; Android, the Family Link parent; Android TV, your PIN and the TV's Google account.
Here's the catch. YouTube's settings live in each app and the signed-in account. A child can sign out, open another browser, or turn Restricted Mode off.
Settings on your child's device sit behind your parent PIN. If anything breaks, WhitelistVideo blocks all of YouTube.
On a Chromebook with Family Link, your child can remove the extension, and you get an email. Become administrator in the Google Admin console, and only you can remove it.
WhitelistVideo, a SourceForge Top Performer in parental control software, is one of the best parental control apps for YouTube.
