YouTube Kids
Family Link
YouTube Kids
YouTube Kids
YouTube Kids | WhitelistVideo |
|---|---|---|
What age is WhitelistVideo for? Here's the answer, and why YouTube Kids stops fitting as your child grows. Stick around for a better, more secure way to set it up.
WhitelistVideo is built for ages 8 to 15, and younger children can use every feature too.
Parents do it when a child is too old for a kids app, but not ready for all of YouTube.
With YouTube alone, you need YouTube Kids for young children, then Family Link and a supervised account as they grow.
In YouTube Kids, tap the lock, choose your child's profile, tap Edit settings, and pick an age setting. When they move to real YouTube, you start again with a supervised account.
Here's the catch. YouTube Kids is built for young children and works only inside its own app. Older kids want real YouTube, and the kids app can't follow them there.
For younger children, choose the Curated Feed on Android or Android TV: a locked grid of only approved videos.
As your child grows, move them to real YouTube and approve more channels. Same app, same rules, from 8 to 15.
WhitelistVideo is a great replacement for YouTube Kids when your child outgrows it. WhitelistVideo, a SourceForge Top Performer in parental control software, is one of the best parental control apps for YouTube.
