Managing Your Subscription
This guide walks you through every step of your subscription journey - from your first subscription to upgrading, downgrading, and canceling.

Your 7-Day Premium Trial
Every new WhitelistVideo account starts with a free 7-day Premium trial. No credit card required!
What You Get During Trial
For 7 days, you have full access to all Premium features:

During Your Trial (Days 1-6)
While your trial is active:
- Full Premium access - All features work without restrictions
- Trial info on Billing page - Shows your trial end date
- No payment needed - Enjoy Premium free for 7 days
- Upgrade anytime - Add payment to continue after trial
Last Day of Trial (Day 7)
On your final trial day:
- A reminder popup appears on your dashboard
- Urgent notification - "Your trial ends today"
- "Continue with Premium" button - Click to add payment
Don't worry! You can dismiss this and decide later. But remember - your trial ends at midnight.
When Your Trial Ends
If you don't add a payment method before your trial expires:
What Happens Automatically:
- Your account downgrades to Free tier
- Excess items are deactivated (not deleted)
- Free tier limits apply:

Important: Your settings are saved, not deleted. If you upgrade later, everything reactivates!
How to Continue with Premium
To keep Premium features after your trial:
Click "Continue with Premium"
When you see the trial reminder, click "Continue with Premium".
Or go to Billing and click "Add Payment Method".

Choose Your Plan
Select either:
- Basic ($6.99/month per child) - Extra channels (30 channels per child)
- Premium ($14.99/month per child) - AI filtering, categories, everything

Enter Payment Details
Complete the Stripe checkout with your card information.

Done!
Your Premium access continues without interruption. No data lost, no settings reset.

Trial FAQ
Can I use the trial more than once? No. Each account gets one 7-day trial, ever.
What if I forget to add payment? Your account becomes Free tier. You can upgrade anytime later.
Will I be charged automatically? No. You must add a payment method to be charged.
Can I downgrade during trial? The trial is already free! Just let it expire if you don't want to continue.
Common Scenarios
"I want to try before paying"
Good news! Every new account gets a free 7-day Premium trial!
- Sign up for free (no credit card needed)
- Get full Premium access for 7 days
- Create up to 5 child profiles
- Test AI filtering, categories, and all Premium features
- Add payment before trial ends to continue, or let it expire to use Free tier

"My trial is ending soon"
To keep Premium features:
- Go to Settings → Subscription & Billing
- Click "Continue with Premium" or "Add Payment Method"
- Choose Basic or Premium plan
- Enter payment details
- Your Premium access continues uninterrupted
If you miss the deadline:
- Account becomes Free tier automatically
- Your settings are saved (not deleted)
- Upgrade anytime to restore everything
"My trial ended and I lost features"
Don't panic! Your data is safe.
- Go to Settings → Subscription & Billing
- Choose Basic or Premium plan
- Complete payment
- All your children, channels, and settings reactivate instantly
"I need to add another child"
If you're on Free:
- Upgrade to Basic or Premium (both allow unlimited children)
If you're on Basic/Premium:
- Go to Settings → Subscription & Billing
- Click "Buy More Slots"
- Select number of additional children
- Confirm purchase (prorated charge)

"My payment failed"
What happens:
- You receive an email notification
- A warning appears on your dashboard
- You have 7 days to fix it
How to fix:
- Go to Settings → Subscription & Billing
- Click "View Billing History & Invoices"
- Update your payment method
- Stripe automatically retries the charge
If not fixed in 7 days: Account downgrades to Free tier.
"I want to switch from monthly to annual"
Currently, you need to:
- Cancel your monthly subscription (at period end)
- Wait for it to expire
- Resubscribe with annual billing
Tip: Contact support for assistance with this process.
"I'm being charged but not using the service"
Option 1: Downgrade to Free
- Cancel your subscription
- Keep your account and settings
- Reactivate when needed
Option 2: Reduce child slots
- If you have unused slots, reduce them
- Go to Settings → Subscription & Billing → "Reduce Child Slots"
- Receive prorated credit
"I upgraded by accident"
Contact support immediately at support@whitelist.video.
While we don't offer refunds, we can:
- Downgrade you immediately
- Apply prorated credit to your account
"I can't access Premium features after upgrading"
Try these steps:
- Refresh your browser
- Log out and log back in
- Check billing page - confirm upgrade was successful
- Clear browser cache if issues persist
If still not working, contact support.
Subscription Status Reference
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Trialing | You're in your 7-day Premium trial (no payment yet) |
| Active | Subscription is current and working |
| Past Due | Payment failed - update card within 7 days |
| Canceled | Will end at period end date shown |
| Inactive | Subscription ended - now on Free tier |
