How to configure WhitelistVideo settings
Now that protection is active, customize how WhitelistVideo works for your child using the protection mode slider.
Understanding the protection mode slider
WhitelistVideo uses a simple 3-position slider to control how YouTube is filtered for your child:

How to change protection mode
- Open the Parents' App on your phone
- Tap on your child's name tab at the top
- Make sure you're on the Manage tab
- Find the protection mode slider below the tabs
- Slide to your desired position:
- Slide left for Unprotected (OFF)
- Slide to middle for Manual (SAFE)
- Slide right for AI Shield (SECURE)
Tip: Start with AI Shield (SECURE) for the most protection with the least effort. You can always switch to Manual mode later for more control.

How should I configure WhitelistVideo for my child's age?
For younger children (under 8)
- Set protection mode to Manual (SAFE)
- Approve 10-15 educational and entertainment channels
- Enable all Player Controls (block Shorts, hide comments)
- Keep the whitelist small and focused
For older children (8-12)
- Set protection mode to AI Shield (SECURE)
- Select appropriate content categories (Educational, Science, etc.)
- Add 20-30 favorite channels to the whitelist
- Enable Player Controls to hide comments and block Shorts
For teens (13+)
- Set protection mode to AI Shield (SECURE)
- Enable more content categories based on interests
- Add a wider selection of channels
- Adjust Player Controls based on maturity
How do I manage WhitelistVideo settings?
All settings are managed from the Parents' App on your phone:
- Open the Parents' App
- Tap on your child's name
- Use the protection mode slider to set the filtering level
- Configure Whitelist Channels, Blacklist, Whitelist Categories, and Player Controls
Changes apply immediately. No need to restart Chrome.
