Why we recommend adding the PKG installer
The PKG installer provides additional protection by locking the extension in place. Without it, the extension works like any standard browser extension.
Parent notification: If your child removes the extension, you will receive a notification in the parent dashboard.
When is extension-only appropriate?
Extension-only protection works well when:
- Your child is 16+ and respects family rules
- You want to monitor rather than restrict
- You trust your child to use YouTube responsibly
- You want notification if they remove protection
